Scuba diving in the Philippines

Scuba diving in the Philippines, my next great adventure! In four weeks time (I’m already counting down the days) I’m off for a three week holiday visiting Manilla, Palawan, Cebu and Bohol in the Philippines with a stop over of three days in Hong Kong. The scuba diving adventure is mainly on the islands Cebu and Bohol. So what do the ‘famous’ Philippines have us scuba divers to offer?! Many stories, photo’s and video’s already travel the web about amazing dives. I’m ready to explore it all for myself and share it with you!

My Stories: ‘The ruined night dive’

While our boat crosses the calm waters of the bay in Vela Luka (Croatia) I’m enjoying the view of the stars and the lights of other boats and houses on land. My fellow scuba divers are talking excitedly, for some it’s going to be their first night dive and they are nervous. Something I can understand when I think back to my first night dive. I… I’m just quietly enjoying the warm breeze and rhythmic bounce over the waves.

Dive center review: Al Boom Diving

This is going to be my last post about scuba diving in Fujairah, the United Arab Emirates. As always the last post is a review about the dive center with whom we went diving. In this case it was the dive center Al Boom Diving. They are present at several locations within Dubai and with one dive center in Fujairah. The dive center offers a transfer from Dubai to Fujairah, however we choose the cheaper option and rented a car and drove ourselves. An adventure on itself.

Scuba diving in Fujairah (Dubai- part 2)

Scuba diving and sleeping late are two words which are never mentioned in the same sentence. The alarm clock going off at 06.00 a.m. only proves this once more. After a quick breakfast we are ready for our 2 hour drive from Dubai (West coast) to Fujairah on the East coast. Why? Because according to the local dive centers, as explained in part-1, scuba diving should be much better over there. They are absolutely right! We had an amazing day in Fujairah and where blown away with all the marine life we saw during our dives. Check out my video and photo’s below and see it for yourself!

Scuba diving in Dubai part-1

Dubai… What can I say about this city?! Almost everything you see here as a tourist is fake and build to entertain. Despite this it’s all very beautiful here and you’re amazed about the skyscrapers and enormous projects they are constructing here. We all know Dubai from Palm Island and the 7 star hotel Burj Al Arab. Well currently they also have the highest skyscraper in the world, Burj Khalifa, 800 meters high. Also they are building two extra man made islands. Another Palm Island and another one in the shape of the world. You can understand that all this building isn’t great for scuba diving and marine life in general! Even the scuba centers themselves don’t promote diving here.

My Stories: ‘My most weirdest dive’

This is my 10th story in a series of personal scuba diving adventures and this time I want to take you along memory lane in my weirdest dive I’ve ever made. It has nothing to do with wreck diving or any other adventurous thought you may have. The dive was in a small pond in the middle of a golf course in the middle of the Netherlands far away from the salty waters I love so much. Scuba diving for golfballs wasn’t something I ever thought I would be doing.
